At the beginning of February, IPA Bauchemischen Produkte GmbH carried out a technical training course as part of the renovation of a steel dome shaft at a petrol station in Leopoldsh\u00f6he. Gollub Anlagentechnik GmbH & Co KG was responsible for the practical implementation. The aim of the measure was the professional repair and long-term protection of the plant structure under real construction site conditions. <\/p>\n
The work began with careful substrate preparation in accordance with the technical specifications of the IPA Polyschicht\u00ae DOM system. The steel substrate was blasted to a cleanliness level of Sa 2\u00bd to ensure optimum mechanical and chemical adhesion of the coating. A dry ice blasting machine with abrasive garnet sand (0.2-0.5 mm, 30\/60 mesh) was used. The ice blasting process prevents sparking and increases safety, as explosive gases can form in manhole shafts. <\/p>\n
The first layer of IPA Polyschicht\u00ae (DOM-L) was then applied to the wall area by brushing. The system consisting of IPA Polyschicht\u00ae K2 (binder), K1 (hardener) and setting agent forms a highly resistant protective layer with lasting corrosion protection for steel surfaces. To reinforce sensitive areas, an E-glass mat (580 g\/m\u00b2) was embedded in transition areas and pipe penetrations, significantly improving sealing and crack bridging. <\/p>\n
The “IPA conductive tape” copper tape was integrated to dissipate electrostatic charges and prepared for subsequent connection to the equipotential bonding system. After a further coating in the wall area, the floor was built up with IPA Polyschicht DOM-Guss in two layers, applied evenly by pouring and spreading. <\/p>\n
The IPA Polyschicht\u00ae DOM system impresses with its sustainable corrosion protection and DIBt approval for steel, concrete and masonry substrates. The training course demonstrated a safe, standard-compliant and durable solution for the refurbishment of manhole shafts in filling station and plant construction. <\/p>\n
